The Janitor’s Boy – 1

The story starts by talking about a boy who continuously keeps chewing a ‘bubblelicious’ (type of gum) throughout classes. Then, we get acknowledged that the main character is Jack, John the Janitor’s son with extraordinary smelling ability. For example, Jack could smell what families were cooking evne if he was miles away. We also get acknoleged that Jack was trying to vandalize a desk so his dad has to go through a literally sticky situation. The author tells us Jack was mad at his dad ever since second grade when he said to the class that his future dream was being a janitor, like his dad, and got utterly embarrassed in front of his class. His plan was to vandalize the desk with bubblegum and unfortunately, he gets caught and gets a gum – cleaning job for 3 weeks.

I think Jack would try to do something other than doing what he was trying to do and get in bigger trouble. If I was Jack, I think I would have been very frustrated. I think I too will have been mad at my dad, but I think I would have tried to find out why he was working as a Janitor and try to understand that he might’ve had a reason I think if I could change something, I would make the part where he gets caught more exciting. I would like to ask Jack what he would do because I am very curious of what will happen next.
